It's Showtime

The Office of the President was created by real men who were understandably concerned about how real men abused power. The Office of President put an awesome amount of power onto one man, but it is held in check by two controls. One is the Constitution. The other is the Legacy.
When studying history, the focus is always around some individual, and the individual seated in the Office of the President of the United States will necessarily be included in the history books. Presidents are the symbol of the Nation in their particular era of history.  The President is expected to know this and understand it. Should they go to war or strive for peace? Should they send spies or troops. Should they arrest the Fascists or the Abolitionists? Every war that has ever been fought, every lynching that was allowed, it was the People who allowed it, who voted for it, who continue it. The President could blindly follow the passions of the people who elected him, but the President's actions are always weighed against the consideration that the action will be tied to their Legacy forever.  The knowledge that the future of humanity will collectively look back and judge them, whether the decisions made were good or evil, is expected to matter. How a President is remembered by the World is supposed to matter.

The Legacy matters. But it doesn't work as a check on Presidential power if the person in that office doesn't care about the Legacy.

Donald Trump neither know or cares about history. This is bad.

Donald Trump is a reality T.V. star who manipulates media in order to create exciting and compelling realities. His media war is the only war that's real to him. He hired Rupert Murdock after Murdock was fired from FOX.  His goal is to be the biggest brand in the world, and right now the world trembles at tweets, while he golfs. In case you missed it, he's winning.

His only fear is getting canceled.  And now, with that looking like more and more of a possibility, he's going to want to keep his viewers entertained. His most ardent supporters:  the conspiracy-theory filled gun owners who'll invade a pizzeria with an assault weapon because they think the democrats are keeping child sex slaves. The Neo-Nazis who would invade a town with torches, and beat people with clubs and even crush a woman with a car. Those who celebrate the abuse of women and children, those whose actions are driven by false religion.  Those who love the feeling of war and death.

Like any good showman, he'll give the people what they want.

Any they want bloody things.
